Vikas' European Adventure: A Swiss-Italian Dream Trip Review with Thrillophilia
When Vikas reached out to us, he wanted an amazing adventure through Switzerland and Italy. We curated a 13-day adventure that would bring his vision to life and here’s how it all unfolded on his journey.
A Day in the Venetian Lagoon
Vikas stepped off the vaporetto, excited to explore Venice. The air was fresh and welcoming as he joined a group for a boat tour of the Venetian Lagoon. As the boat moved smoothly over the water, the beautiful buildings of Venice disappeared behind them, and colourful islands came into view.
Their first stop was Murano, famous for its glass. Vikas watched closely as a skilled glassblower shaping hot glass into amazing pieces. “Wow, that’s so cool!” he said, amazed by the artist's talent. After the show, he wandered around and picked out a lovely glass ornament to remember this special moment.
Next, they arrived at Burano, a bright and cheerful island. The houses were painted in many colours, like a rainbow. He stopped at a small café and tried some local biscotti, which were sweet and tasty.
Finally, Vikas visited Torcello, where he saw old buildings and the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. He found a quiet spot to sit and relax, listening to the sounds of the water and birds. “This day has been so special,” he whispered to himself, feeling happy and grateful for the beautiful sights and experiences he had in the lagoon.
Exploring Rome
As Vikas stepped out of his hotel, the sun bathed the streets of Rome in a warm glow, filling him with anticipation. With his Roma Pass in hand, he set off to uncover the stories hidden within the ancient walls.
His first stop was the Colosseum. Standing outside, he gazed up at the ancient structure, imagining the fierce gladiators who once fought there. “This is incredible!” he thought, as he walked inside, taking in the stories the stones could tell.
While exploring the Roman Forum, he met a fellow solo traveller - Luca. They quickly struck up a conversation and decided to explore the attractions together. They wandered through the Forum, taking pictures of the old temples and monuments.
Afterwards, they visited the Capitoline Museums, surrounded by beautiful art and sculptures. As hunger struck, they found a cosy trattoria nearby. “Let’s try some authentic Roman food!” Luca suggested. They both ordered generous plates of carbonara, sharing stories and laughter over their meal.
After a satisfying lunch, they parted ways, exchanging contact information and promising to share their travel experiences. Surrounded by stunning art and sculptures in the Capitoline Museums, Vikas felt inspired. He took his time, soaking in every detail.
As the day came to an end, he decided to stroll through the charming streets of Trastevere. The narrow, cobblestone alleys were alive with laughter and music, and he couldn’t help but feel a sense of joy. “I can see why people love this city so much,” he thought, smiling at the vibrant atmosphere around him.
Switzerland: A Winter Wonderland
After his trip to Italy, Vikas travelled to Switzerland and found himself surrounded by the beautiful Swiss Alps. He boarded the Bernina Express, feeling excited about what lay ahead. The train snaked through snowy mountains and deep valleys, crossing charming bridges that looked like they belonged in a fairy tale.
Vikas snapped photos at every turn, especially when the train crossed the famous Landwasser Viaduct, which seemed to float high among the mountains. “I’ve never seen anything like this,” he thought, enjoying the fresh mountain air that filled his lungs and invigorated his spirit.
The best part of Vikas's trip was visiting Jungfraujoch, known as the “Top of Europe.” The train ride took him through amazing scenery that left him speechless. As he reached the summit, he stepped into a winter wonderland. The vast Aletsch Glacier sparkled under the sun, and he felt amazed by its size and beauty.
The cold wind nipped at his cheeks, but Vikas smiled, soaking in the moment. When he entered the Ice Palace, he admired the beautiful ice sculptures that twinkled in the light. “I could stay here forever,” he thought, enchanted by the lovely surroundings and the magical atmosphere.
In Grindelwald, he explored the Glacier Canyon, walking along paths carved into the mountains. The sound of rushing water and the tall rock formations around him made him feel small yet excited, reminding him of nature's strength. Later, he hiked to the Giessbach Waterfalls, where the calming sound of flowing water and the peaceful atmosphere made him feel deeply connected to nature. Standing there, Vikas felt thankful for every moment of his Swiss adventure, knowing he would cherish these memories for years to come.
