A Little Bali, Just for Two: Neelam and Reetesh’s Romantic Escape with Thrillophilia

There is something about travelling to Bali as a couple. The days seem to stretch a little longer, the roads keep opening into beautiful views, and even an ordinary evening can turn into something worth remembering.

For Neelam and Reetesh Kumar, six days in Bali were their chance to slow down, explore somewhere new together and enjoy a little time away from everyday life. Their journey began in the green surroundings of Ubud before moving towards the beaches and lively atmosphere of Kuta.

The plan gave them plenty of reasons to step out and explore, along with moments that were meant just for the two of them. Somewhere between a private villa, mountain roads, island beaches, ocean adventures and a candlelight dinner by Jimbaran Beach, Bali became the setting for their own little story.

Here’s how their six days unfolded.

Their Little Villa in Ubud

The first day was deliberately easy.

After arriving in Bali, Neelam and Reetesh made their way to Ubud Heaven Penestanan, where their one-bedroom private pool villa was waiting for them. After the journey, there was something lovely about having the first day belong entirely to the two of them.

Ubud has a way of making you slow down. Away from the busier streets, Penestanan is surrounded by tropical greenery, rice fields and the quiet rhythm of village life. Their private villa gave them a comfortable place to settle in before the adventures began. The real Bali holiday could wait until morning. For the first evening, there was simply Ubud, their villa and each other.

Swinging Through Bali

The following morning brought them out into Bali’s countryside.

Their private SUV took them towards Kintamani, where the landscape changed into volcanic hills and mountain views. Mount Batur and Lake Batur dominate this part of the island, creating a dramatic backdrop for the drive. A coffee plantation was their next stop, followed by Tegenungan Waterfall. The waterfall drops through dense tropical greenery, with the sound of rushing water cutting through the forest.

Then came Tegalalang Rice Terrace, where the landscape turned into layers of green carved into the hillsides. And somewhere above those terraces came the Bali Jungle Swing. With unlimited swings and nests included in their experience, Neelam and Reetesh had plenty of time to enjoy the moment. They could swing above the greenery, stop for photographs and simply take in the scenery around them.

A local lunch brought the day back down to earth before they returned to Ubud.

When Bali Turned Romantic

On 1 May, the couple left Ubud for Kuta, but the road between the two became an experience of its own.

Their route took them through the northern highlands towards Handara Gate. The ornate Balinese gateway stood against a backdrop of lush green mountains, creating one of those unmistakably Bali moments. From there, they continued to Ulun Danu Beratan. Sitting on the shores of Lake Beratan in Bedugul, the temple complex seems to float on the water, with the mountains rising behind it. The cooler highland air and misty surroundings offered a completely different atmosphere from Ubud.

Then came the part of the day that belonged entirely to the couple. At Jimbaran Beach, an Indian vegetarian candlelight dinner had been arranged for Neelam and Reetesh. A rose, soft drinks and dinner by the sea turned the evening into a proper date night, with the sound of the waves providing the background. After a day spent travelling through Bali’s mountains, they ended the evening beside the ocean.

Just the Two of Them on Nusa Penida

The next morning began with another journey, this time across the water to Nusa Penida. The couple had a private eight-hour tour of the island’s western side, taking them through some of its most dramatic coastal landscapes.

Kelingking Beach was one of the first major highlights. From the famous viewpoint, the cliff curves into the sea in the shape that has earned it its T-Rex nickname, with turquoise water stretching far below. Angel’s Billabong offered a completely different scene, with its natural rock pool meeting the ocean, while Broken Bay opened into a huge natural arch carved into the coastline. Bubu Beach added another stretch of Nusa Penida’s rugged shore to their day.

There was even time for complimentary snorkelling, depending on the schedule. For Neelam and Reetesh, Nusa Penida became a full day of discovering somewhere together, moving from one spectacular coastal view to the next before making their way back to Kuta.

A Little Adventure

By the fifth day, Bali had already given the couple mountains, waterfalls, rice terraces, temples and an island escape. Now it was time to get into the water.

Their day began with a watersports session featuring a banana boat, couple parasailing and a jet ski ride. The couple could take in Bali’s coastline from the water before heading towards Uluwatu.

Uluwatu Temple sits dramatically on the cliffs of Bali’s southern Bukit Peninsula, high above the Indian Ocean. The setting itself feels made for an evening stop, with waves breaking far below the cliffs and the horizon stretching endlessly into the distance.

The day ended with the Kecak and Fire Dance, one of Bali’s most distinctive cultural performances. The rhythmic chanting, traditional storytelling and fire-lit performance created a final evening that felt distinctly Balinese.
