Marco's Exquisite Experience of Rajasthan’s Royalty with Thrillophilia
Rajasthan’s beauty is unlike any other place in India. Its people, its culture, its food, and its beauty are so distinct and vibrant, that each and every day I spent at this heaven seemed to be out of this world!
I had always wanted to visit Rajasthan solo, touring its vast desert lands while witnessing the majestic forts that bear thousands of years of history. I wanted to experience its essence outside of the history books.
Hence, the day I got the opportunity, I set out on a solo trip through this mesmerising land of ancient tales.
The experiences count
First of all, I would like to talk about the beautiful experiences I have had on this trip.
The best one was the desert safari and camp experience in Jaisalmer. It was the last bit of the trip and offered exactly a kind of ending I was hoping for. The camel ride was a brilliant encounter, going around the endless sand dunes of the Thar desert, going about an expansive oasis (it was my first time seeing one), and then watching the sunset as it casts a beautiful golden glow over the desert.
After returning from the safari, I had the privilege to see one of the most revered folk dance forms of India- Kalbeliya. The troop sang and danced around the bonfire in front of the camp, while the guests rejoiced in its charm and splendour. I also had the opportunity to taste the authentic Rajasthani dishes such as Dal Baati Churma, Gatte ki Sabzi, Ker Sangri and Chaach for dinner!
The second-best experience on the trip was touring the Pink City. Jaipur has so much to offer to the tourists, including short hikes and treks to spiritual abodes and historical places. Although I did not have the time to hike in the hills, I made sure to visit its famous places- Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, and the stunning City Palace.
I also figured out why the city is known as the ‘Pink City’. All the buildings of this city are painted in a shade of light-brick colour, which appears to be bright pink during sunrise and sunset. Also, the skies of Jaipur are something to cherish, they can make you awe-struck at any time of the day!
The third experience, which left me completely speechless, was the Jodhpur tour. The amazing Mehrangarh Fort is nothing less than enchanting. I had the room to explore its wonders, and also witness the iconic sunset of the ‘Blue City’, from here. Although for Jodhpur, I had to squeeze some time out of the otherwise hectic schedule, it was totally worth it!
Excellent services make for an unforgettable trip!
Thrillophilia’s arrangement of hotels, drivers, and itineraries was on point throughout. I received all the necessary information beforehand, which made it easier to include some off-the-itinerary tours in the schedule.
The stays were impeccable. Most of them were palaces converted into hotels, with top-notch amenities and aesthetics. Yes, aesthetics play a major role in the Rajasthan trip. Everywhere you look around is so appealing that it is a treat to the eyes!
My driver was quite helpful and knowledgeable. He took me around the photo points of the city, and even took me to some off-beat spots. He also helped me tour the palaces and the forts, providing me with cultural and historical insights. I also learned about the significance of Rajputana motifs and architecture, especially the Baolis.
All in all, I had one of the best trips of my life here. This land not only speaks of royalty, it still survives in royalty. Everywhere you look around, you can see stunning works of art and architecture telling you some story of the distant past. I was reminded of the popular movies of Jodha Akbar, Paheli, Satyajit Ray’s Sonar Kella, and so much more!

Finally, some tips about the expenses
- Food is moderately priced, with mostly vegetarian options available. Also, try Laal Maas if you are a meat fan.
- Transport is costly. If I did not have an assigned driver by Thrillophilia, it would have been difficult for me to navigate around.
- The other possible expenses are shopping and lodging. Again, thanks to Thrillophilia for providing awesome stays at affordable ranges. As for shopping, you would be required to bargain a bit. The markets here are very lively and colourful, and you will love strolling around the alleys. But, be mindful of the prices of the popular Jaipuri Jutti( a kind of footwear), handicrafts, traditional jewellery, and especially the popular Jaipuri blankets. You will find a wide range of artworks and jewellery here that uphold the crafts of the region, leaving you admiring them for hours!
So, puff up your chest and wrap a turban around your head to get ready for a Rajasthan trip. You are sure to be stunned by its rich heritage and culture, reminding you of the lavish royalties that once ruled here. For me, it was an experience that left me speechless. It was only a few days after the trip that I could fully fathom what an experience I had gained over this 6-day trip to Rajasthan, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer with Thrillophilia.
Also, a big shout out to Thrillophilia’s sales, operations, on-ground assistance and customer support staff who made this dream trip of mine possible, and that too beautifully! So, be it a solo trip or a group trip to the Land of Royalty, I would recommend each and every traveller to try Thrillophilia.
