Going Above and Beyond - Tejaswini’s Family Trip to Himachal with Thrillophilia
Our family is an ardent lover of travelling.
For the last five-six years we have made it a target to go to at least one place in a year. So this year in March, we decided to push our limits a bit more and go to a high-altitude place in Himachal pradesh. Since we had our grandmother with us as well, we needed to ensure that the arrangements are top-notch and that we do not face any extra hassle on the trip.
After we conveyed our concerns with our trip operator- Thrillophilia - they swiftly got back to us with a full-proof itinerary that would suit our family the best. They provided us with a plan to Manali, Kasol, Jibhi, and Jalori Pass. It looked fine to us, and we also cross checked the rating and the properties of the stays they suggested. They also asked us to call our GEO (Guest Experience Officer) Vidhi Gurjar in case of any emergency.
So, with multiple sets of bags and luggages, we finally set off on our trip to Himachal. We were to reach Delhi first, and from there Thrillophilia would provide transfers. It was our grandma’s first time visiting Himachal, and she was quite excited. We all were a bit worried about her health but she always kept telling us,
“Kuch nahi hoga, chalo”
She seemed to have gained back her youth, and she was so happy that we did not make any changes in the plan. She was confident, and that was enough for us. We supported her throughout, never uttering a syllable of discouragement.
And it all paid off at the end.
Glimpses on the way
Our first stop was at Manali, and we simply loved the small yet such a vibrant town. We all went around the town and toured its famous points like the Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashisht Temple, and Old Manali. We did not push the itinerary much and kept it paced out so that we all could get some good rest and also spend time with each other as a family.
So, next day we were to head to Kasol for a small retreat as it is famous for that. But on the way, we were to cross the famous Solang Valley. We knew Grandma would just wait by the side while we tried the adventure sports..however…
We saw her putting on the suit.. SHE WAS GOING TO SKI!
I supported her full on. It was a very powerful and brave move for a person of her age, but if she wanted to do it, we were in for it as well! We cheered her for showing such enthusiasm and energy, I also held her hand for the initial time and later on she had gotten the hang of it.
She was the reason for multiplying our happiness manifolds.
We caught a fish!
In Kasol, we tried our hands at fishing. The camp stay we were in was so well-kept and maintained that we felt fresh after a whole day of trying out paragliding and skiing, and then sleeping the night off.
So, in the morning after having our breakfast, we decided to utilise the time by fishing. And the experience of catching fish in the Parvati river was quite electrifying! The rapids were fast and strong, and it was difficult to hold the fishing pole. But nonetheless, we managed to catch two fish in two hours!
Later that day we toured the quaint town of Kasol and explored the cafes there for some Tibetan delicacies.
There ends the first part of the trip.
Now, the second half begins
The trip to Jibhi and Jalori pass.
It was an awesome experience, looking at the snow-capped mountains and the coniferous landscapes that lay before us. Our Stay in JIbhi was so good, it felt as if we could stay there for an entire lifetime. There was no chaos, no issues, no hubbub. Only the echoes of the mountains and the gurgling of the Tirthan river. We felt so peaceful that even Kasol seemed to be more busy.
On the way to Jalori Pass, we saw the Beas River and the Tirthan River snaking through the valley. It offered a splendid sight. Upon reaching the pass, we had to go for a short trek to Serolsar Lake.
I looked at grandma once, she looked more energised than even all of us combined. Anyway, we started our journey to the lake and amazingly enough, she was second to reach the Lake, me being the first. We both were walking almost together, I was assisting her in some areas while she was holding my camera in some places while I climbed. Then I would give her my hand and she would slowly and steadily trek up.
We took a serene boat ride in the Lake. We were all so happy that we giggled and laughed throughout the ride, sharing jokes and admiring the views every now and then.
It is true, Himachal is a beauty
There are so many reasons to support this statement, some of which are already mentioned in this particular review of mine.
And Thrillophilia had executed this trip to perfection.
Our stays- The Conifer in Manali, the Kovid camp in Kasol, and Lato Hut in Jibhi- were neat and clean, located just in the right places.
Finally, the driver and guide who took us to all these places, was so warm and welcoming that it had started to feel like he was also a part of our group. He took us around several places, showed us mountain peaks and told us the names of them by pointing in their direction. We heard about his family and his friends, and throughout the way we never stopped talking to him.
We tried various Tibetian and Himachali food items as well, and by the grace of god whichever restaurant our guide introduced us to, worked out pretty well. We tried Aktori and Siddu, and we just loved the authentic preparations of Thukpa and momos there.
Overall, we had a lovely trip, and Vidhi, our GEO, was a constant help. Seeing the attention and care that Thrillophilia treats their customers with, I am convinced to take more trips with them in the future!
And for this instance, a big big THANK YOU!
