From Our Hearts to His: Sweety’s Dubai Family Trip Review with Thrillophilia
I love to travel and so does my husband. We have been on all kinds of adventures, treks, backpacking trips, beach vacations, Yatras, and group tours with solo travellers. You name it we have done it!
When my son was born, I wanted nothing else from him other than him travelling the world just like his parents! But COVID steered our traveller plans from kitchen to hall to bedroom!
A while ago I asked my husband, “What better time to start his travel journey than now?” To which he remarked, “Luckily our baby is old enough to remember the fun he does!”
Usually, we plan all our trips by ourselves but this one, well, I wanted us to be chill and just enjoy ourselves with our son. Since my friend just had her Europe tour with Thrillophilia, I knew that I could try them out.
And just like that, my son embarked on his first International trip with two of his best friends, Mumma and Papa.
A Day of Dunes and Laughter
I have to say, the Desert Safari was one of the best parts of our trip.
At first, I wasn’t sure how it would go, especially with a little one, but oh, he loved every bit of it! My heart was racing as soon as we got into the car as the way to reach the camp was by dune bashing.
Meanwhile, our son was giggling non-stop every time the car went up and down the dunes. My husband looked over and teased, “Who’s more nervous here, you or him?” He wasn’t wrong- I was gripping the seat so tightly! But after a few minutes, I started to enjoy the thrill just as much as they did.
When we reached the camp, the sunset was breathtaking. The sky was painted with soft pinks and oranges, and the dunes seemed to stretch on forever. Our little one, of course, was more interested in playing with the sand, but my husband and I just sat back and took it all in.
Later in the evening, we watched a Falcon show, and our son was completely fascinated. He even got to touch the bird! He wasn’t afraid at all, and I was so proud of him. “Look, he’s a natural!” my husband said, beaming with joy.
We also had henna tattoo artists at the camp, which was fun! As an Indian, I’ve seen Mehndi many times, so I didn’t get one. But the foreigners in the other camps were going gaga over it!
My favourite part was the tasty barbecue. It had a proper Middle Eastern vibe and was way richer than the barbecue back at home. We ended the day with a gentle camel ride, our son happily sitting on his dad’s lap, taking in the desert scenery.
Our Dinner in Dubai Marina
We had booked a Dhow Cruise in Dubai Marina and it was truly fantastic. As we boarded the beautifully lit boat, I felt a wave of excitement. My son was fascinated by everything around him. He pointed at the glittering lights on the shore, squealing, “Look, Mama!” My husband chuckled, “I think he’s enjoying this more than we are!” Watching our son’s joy made the experience even more special.
As the boat set sail, we enjoyed the stunning views of Dubai’s skyline. The tall buildings looked like glass, reflecting the twinkling lights.
Dinner was delicious, but the creamy baklava stole the show! After dinner, our son fell asleep, giving my husband and me a chance to enjoy a kind of candlelight dinner just by ourselves.
Baby’s Day Out to the Land of the Gazelle
The next day, we headed to Abu Dhabi, where the grandeur of the city took my breath away. Our first stop was the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The white marble and intricate designs were stunning. After seeing so many Middle Eastern men in their white gown-like dresses, my husband kept ending every sentence with “Habibi!” It made us all laugh!
We also went to Ferrari World, where my husband couldn’t contain his excitement. He kept telling our son all about the cars, pointing out the fast ones with a gleam in his eye. Our little one was wide-eyed, enjoying the thrill of it all, especially the fun rides designed for kids.
After all the excitement, we headed to the Khajur Market. We bought a lot of varieties of dates and even tried yummy snacks here.
Exploring the Wonders of Dubai
We decided to catch the early sun at the famous Jumeirah Beach.
The soft white sand felt so nice under my feet as I watched my son run towards the waves, giggling as the water tickled his toes. My husband and I sat back for a moment, soaking in the stunning views of the Burj Al Arab in the distance. “Look at that sail-shaped hotel!” my husband said, snapping photos. “It’s like something from a movie!”
Next, we headed to Nakheel Mall. It was a fun place to explore, with so many shops and eateries. We took a break for some ice cream, which was just perfect in the warm sun. “This place is amazing, Mama!” our son said, enjoying his treat. It felt great to watch him so happy.
We ended our day at the view at The Palm. Standing there, I felt a sense of wonder as we took in the Palm Jumeirah and the gorgeous coastline. “Look at all the tiny ships!” our son exclaimed, peering down at the landscape below.
It was a perfect way to wrap up our day, with the sun setting over the city, casting a warm glow everywhere.
A Backpack Full of Memories…..
They say that "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." And I am so happy that my son took that step with us!
This trip with Thrillophilia was just fantastic! We had so much fun and we bought so many souvenirs that we had to get another suitcase!
