Shobha's Blissful Trip to Paris with Thrillophilia

Our family was thrilled to plan a trip to Paris, but we wanted to explore more than just the city. We dreamed of seeing Paris’s iconic landmarks and discovering nearby charming towns. That’s when we found Thrillophilia, who helped us craft the perfect itinerary, blending the magic of Paris, Disneyland, and the stunning Swiss landscapes.

As we packed our bags, the excitement was off the charts, and we eagerly counted down the days to our epic family adventure!

A Perfect Start in Paris

Our European adventure began with the most charming city in France - Paris. We got into a hop-on-hop-off bus for a city tour, ready to explore Paris in style.

Our first stop was the Eiffel Tower. As we neared the landmark, the sight of it rising above us was breathtaking. The city looked even more stunning from the bus, with the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the majestic Musée D'Orsay standing proudly in the distance.

"It's amazing how one city is home to so many popular historic sites," I said. The vintage architecture, the energy of the streets, and the historical heritage were overwhelming.

The Big Bus tour took us on a scenic journey through Paris. Throughout the tour, we listened to bits of history, a few jokes, and the occasional quirky commentary. We passed landmarks like the Grand Palais, Opera Garnier, and the Champs-Élysées - rolling through a city that felt so alive.

After the tour, we headed straight to the Eiffel Tower. We had pre-booked tickets for the summit, which gave us fast-track entry, and the views from the top were simply jaw-dropping. Looking out over Paris, I was in awe of how vast and beautiful the city was. The Seine stretched out like a ribbon below, with boats gliding across. We even spotted a few adorable houseboats.

The best part was getting to take a relaxed Seine River Cruise afterwards. Sipping on warm drinks, we glided along the river, passing landmarks that we’d just seen from above.

"Can you believe how many iconic places we've seen in just one day?" my partner laughed.

“I’m starting to think Paris has more landmarks than I could ever visit in a lifetime!" I replied.

The Disney Magic

The next day was dedicated to Disney magic. We took the Disneyland Paris Express Shuttle from the city centre of Paris, and the journey to the parks was smooth and fun. The bus itself was super adorable, with Disney-themed seats and an air of excitement. Our kid had always wanted to visit Disneyland Paris - and the thought of finally heading there made his eyes sparkle.

I couldn’t help but smile. We had opted for a 2-park ticket, and that meant exploring both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. Our first stop was Disneyland Park. The moment we entered, we were hit with the delightful scent of popcorn and sweet treats. The parades, the laughter, the rides  - it was like stepping into a Disney movie.

We started with the classic rides like 'It’s a Small World' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. Later, we tried other equally thrilling rides. My partner and I were excited to try the Tower of Terror, and let’s just say - it wasn’t for the faint of heart.

“Oh my god, I thought my heart was going to jump out!” I gasped, clutching the safety bar as we dropped.

But once we got off, we were already planning our next adventure. The shuttle ride back to Paris was filled with chatter about all the things we saw and did. Disney truly is a place where dreams come true, and for us, it was a day to remember.

On Top of the World

After the high-energy fun of Disneyland, it was time for us to explore the natural beauty of Switzerland. We boarded a train from Paris to Zurich, where we began our day trip to Mount Titlis. I’d seen pictures of the Swiss Alps before, but seeing them in person was something else. The snow-capped mountains, the chilly winds - it felt like a whole new world.

Our tour guide met us at Zurich’s main station, and we were off to Lucerne. As we passed through scenic villages and rolling hills, I was stunned by the landscapes of Switzerland. Lucerne turned out to be my partner's favourite, with cobblestone streets and medieval buildings that looked like they belonged in another century. We stopped at the famous Lion Monument, a beautifully carved sculpture made in memory of the Swiss Guards. After clicking what seemed like a hundred pictures, we continued our journey to Engelberg, where the real adventure began.

The trip up to Mount Titlis was something we'd always remember. The Rotair revolving cable car took us higher and higher, with snow-covered peaks all around us. At the top of the mountain, we had the option to take the Ice Flyer chairlift - and needless to say, we couldn’t resist. The wind in our faces and the awesome views left us all speechless.

After exploring the glacier caves and walking on the Titlis Cliff Walk, which according to our guide was the highest suspension bridge in Europe, we got back down. But we knew that this experience was something that would stay with us forever. We wrapped up the day in Lucerne, where we had a great time exploring the local streets.

The next day, we boarded the train back to Zurich and talked about everything we had witnessed during the trip. From the iconic landmarks of Paris to the thrills of Disneyland and the awe-inspiring views of the Swiss Alps, this was a vacation that had everything!
