Family Ties and Singapore Skies: Shital’s Review of a Trip to Singapore
My child is a huge fan of superhero movies and we were busy watching Krrish with him one evening after dinner.
“Look at those towering buildings and monuments! Singapore looks so beautiful” my husband remarked, intrigued by the scenes.
Our little one merrily added, “Mom, can we go there during my winter vacations?"
“We could visit Universal Studios, check out the Night Safari, and explore the Gardens by the Bay!” I suggested, turning to my husband.
He smiled, clearly impressed by the idea of a trip to Singapore. “That sounds wonderful! Just think of all the fun we’ll have discovering new things together!”
As the movie continued, we found ourselves daydreaming about walking along the Marina Bay Sands and trying authentic Singaporean street food.
Before the movie credits rolled, we had already started looking for stays and flights, filled with excitement about our family trip. “Let’s do it!” I said, and with that, I booked a Singapore adventure with Thrillophilia, ready for a family trip unlike any other.
Experiencing the Extraordinary
To know Singapore is to love Singapore
My friends once told me how visiting Singapore is an experience that turns the mundane into the extraordinary. We realized that everything we had heard about Singapore was true, as soon as we reached Changi Airport.
From the get-go, it became clear that this trip was going to be full of experiences that would fascinate both adults and children.
Changi Airport - Well, it was something out of this world, as we had not been to an airport this beautiful anywhere else. My husband was charmed by its breathtaking beauty.
“Wow, is this really an airport?” my boy gasped, with his fingers pointing at the Rain Vortex. “I’ve never seen anything like it!”
“Welcome to Singapore!” I chuckled. The art installations and lush green indoor gardens were simply spellbinding.
“If the airport looks like this, think about our experiences once we step outside!” my husband said, and I couldn’t agree more.
In the evening, we were taken for a visit to the Night Safari Zoo, where the jungle comes alive under the stars. My boy, with eyes wide open, clutched my hand the moment we boarded the tram. As we explored the seven themed zones, we spotted several exotic animals including tigers, hippos, and rhinos. The thrill of watching a lion, with its eyes glowing in the night, was a mind-blowing experience.
Our wildlife exploration didn't end there, there was so much more to the safari than spotting exotic animals. We also enjoyed attending an evening full of cultural immersion, where we saw various traditional dance performances.
The combination of culture and nature during the safari was a unique experience and set a charming tone for our family trip.
A Feast for the Senses
In every corner of a new place, there’s a symphony of sights, sounds, and scents just waiting to be discovered.
During our sightseeing tours, every place felt like a new chapter from a fantasy novel, filled with colorful landscapes and exciting experiences.
We began our exploration with Merlion Park, where we found the popular statue of the lion showering water into the bay. As we stood there, with the skyline in the background, I couldn’t help but think about the fusion of modernity and history that Singapore housed. Our boy marveled at the statue of the mythical creature, and the moment turned into a lovely photo opportunity for our family.
Visiting Gardens by the Bay was truly the spotlight of our day. The moment we stepped into the Cloud Forest, we were surrounded by a mist, and as we walked ahead, it revealed the stunning waterfall cascading down the towering cliffs. Our little boy giggled and splashed in the gentle water sprays as my husband and I admired the stunning arrangement of flowers around us.
Also, a riot of colors is how I'd like to describe the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay.
Every flower showcased a unique charm, whispering tales of its own, as my boy would point, “Dad, check that one out!... Mom, look over there!”
Thrills, Laughter, and Ice Cream
Singapore is a city built on dreams, innovation, and diversity.
It couldn't be more evident than at Universal Studios, which transported us to an entirely different dimension. Initially, I assumed it would be a playground just for my son, but I quickly realized how wrong I was. My husband and I felt a rush of excitement as soon as we stepped into its premises.
The world of characters and movies that we watched growing up came to life right in front of us. From the magical realms of Far Far Away to the exciting rides in Sci-Fi City, every corner of Universal Studios was full of fun. Watching my boy’s face glow while meeting and greeting his favorite characters was a delight that words can't fully capture.
Each ride was a thrilling experience; we laughed, screamed together, and shared moments of pure happiness. We also had a great time watching the street performances and parades which added more layers of fun to our day at the studios.
During sunset, we sat on a bench and enjoyed our favorite ice cream, talking about what each of us liked the most. It was a beautiful moment of connection, a gentle reminder of why traveling together is important.
From Cable Cars to Water Slides
Our day trip to Sentosa Island was like the cherry on top of an already splendid trip.
The cable car ride was a memorable experience as we glided over the lush green Mount Faber and got a chance to admire the clear waters below. We also visited the Adventure Cove Waterpark, where we splashed in the pools and tried thrilling slides.
To be honest, it felt really amazing to relive our childhood with our little boy.
The night in Sentosa Island was even better with the breathtaking 'Wings of Time' show. As we watched the fantastic display of water, sound, and lights, I looked at my family and noticed their faces glowing with light and happiness.
It was a special moment where technology and nature became one, making us feel like a part of something magical.
P.S. Thanks ‘Krrish’ for giving us the idea of visiting Singapore together.
