Sampath Tudgani's Family Getaway in Kerala with Thrillophilia

It was the kind of family trip many dream of but rarely manage to plan—13 members spanning different generations, all ready to explore, bond, and make memories together. For Sampath Tudgani, a software engineer from Mumbai, this Kerala journey was not about ticking places off a list. It was about pausing life's routines, gathering with loved ones, and surrendering to the scenic embrace of nature, culture, and coastlines.
A Scenic Welcome to the Hills of Munnar

Their journey began on 26 December 2023. They arrived in Coimbatore, where an AC tempo traveller awaited them. The drive to Munnar was nothing short of spectacular. Sampath Tudgani and his family were greeted by cascading waterfalls and lush tea plantations, unfolding like a beautiful, moving canvas.
"The Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls were straight out of a painting," Sampath's sister-in-law recalled. "We kept pulling out our phones for photos, but some views just had to be savoured with the eyes."
Upon reaching Munnar, the family settled into their hotel and after the long drive, a warm dinner and cool mountain air made for the perfect first evening.
"Ahhhh! Munnar is really nature's gift", Sampath whispered.

The next morning brought the scent of cardamom and a fresh mountain breeze. The family kicked off their Munnar sightseeing tour with a hearty breakfast, followed by visits to Mattupetty Dam, Kundala Lake, and the famous Echo Point, where the children's shouts bounced back playfully from the hills.
"We must have heard our names echo a hundred times," laughed Sampath's nephew. "It was the best part of my day!"
Their afternoon unfolded at the Eravikulam National Park, where misty paths and Nilgiri Tahr sightings added a sense of quiet wonder. The day closed at Blossom Park and the Tea Museum, where the adults appreciated the region's tea legacy while the kids ran free among blooming gardens.
A Journey From Hills to Waves: Their Journey to Kovalam

After two days in the hills, it was time for a change in scenery, and after breakfast, the family journeyed down to the coast towards Kovalam. On the way, they visited the majestic Shree Padmanabhaswamy Temple—an experience marked by awe and reverence.
"There was a silence we all felt the moment we stepped inside," said Sampath. "It was not just the architecture; it was something more spiritual."
As they arrived in Kovalam, the beach welcomed them with soft sands and rhythmic waves. Their hotel—Byke Pooja Samudhra or a similar seaside retreat—offered views of the Arabian Sea that seemed to stretch forever. That evening, the family spent time together on the beach, lost in the laughter of cousins and the chatter of the elders. But the best part was the beachside dinner as the sun dipped below the horizon.
Backwater Bliss in Alleppey

The next leg of their journey led to Alleppey. Known for its calm canals and laid-back life, Alleppey was a soothing contrast to their earlier stops. After checking in at their hotel—Pagoda or a similar serene property—they set out to explore the region.
The day's sightseeing included lush paddy fields, meandering canals flanked by coconut groves, and mangrove forests that whispered tales of timelessness. It was a day of gentle wandering, captured best in the quiet moments when no one spoke, but everyone smiled.
"My father just sat by the water for almost an hour," said Sampath. "He did not say much, but I think that moment was his favourite."
Coimbatore, the Culture, Curiosities, and Final Reflections

After breakfast, the family began their return journey to Coimbatore. The city, often known as the 'Manchester of South India,' offered a glimpse into Kerala's industrial and cultural tapestry.
Their visits included the GD Naidu Industrial Exhibition, the Botanical Garden, and temples like Perur and Vinayanagar. Each place that they visited added something special to their trip—modern sights, natural beauty, and moments of peace, all coming together perfectly.
After the dinner, the family talked about their favourite moments and memories. The kids argued about whether beaches were better than waterfalls, while the adults shared smiles over temple visits and tea tastings.

The next morning, as they packed their bags and checked out, there was a mix of emotions. The Kerala journey had ended, but the memories, the laughter, and the stronger bonds would stay with them long after.
Sampath expressed heartfelt gratitude to Thrillophilia: "From the moment we landed in Coimbatore to our farewell, it was a journey filled with breathtaking beauty and genuine warmth—all thanks to your meticulous planning."
A key highlight of their experience was the seamless support and coordination by Kamini Kumari from Thrillophilia. Whether it was answering last-minute queries or ensuring smooth transfers and check-ins, her presence provided constant reassurance.

In Sampath's words: "Kamini did not just coordinate everything—she became like a part of our family. Her warmth and patience truly made all the difference throughout the trip".
The family also fondly remembered their driver, Mr. Nagendran. "We miss him already. He was not just a driver—he was our silent guardian on the road," shared Sampath’s wife.
For Sampath Tudgani and his family, this was not just a holiday; it was a pause in time. A space to reconnect, celebrate togetherness, and witness the magic of Kerala at their own rhythm.
