Mountains, Snow and Memories: Salil’s Trip Review with Thrillophilia
"Sometimes the best memories are made in the snow."
That’s exactly how Salil and his wife felt after their recent trip to Kasol and Manali, booked through Thrillophilia. It wasn’t just another getaway for them; it became a journey filled with lots and lots of snow.
Salil, a software engineer, had no particular reason for the trip—just a need to escape the daily grind.
The First Glimpse
After a long overnight bus journey, Salil and his wife finally arrived in Manali with excitement bubbling over. Sure, the stunning snow-capped peaks were a sight to behold, but what really made their trip unforgettable was immersing themselves in the local culture and history. And speaking about culture and history what’s a better way to start than the famous Hadimba Devi Temple
The Temple, nestled among towering deodar trees. Salil’s wife, in awe of the ancient architecture, marvelled at how the temple seemed to blend with its natural surroundings.
The peaceful silence, interrupted only by the crunch of snow underfoot, gave the visit a mystical vibe. Salil found himself fascinated by the stories of Hadimba and the temple’s significance.
Next on their list was the Manu Temple. They trudged through the snow-covered streets to get there, taking in the quaint charm of Manali as they went. The spiritual atmosphere of the temple was a lovely contrast to the adventure-filled days that lay ahead.
Snow Thrills and Spills
Of course, no trip to Manali would be complete without a visit to Solang Valley.
When they arrived, it felt like they had stepped into another world entirely. The valley was a playground of snow and adventure, and Salil and his wife were ready to dive in.
They started with the snowmobile ride, feeling the exhilarating rush of cold wind and adrenaline as they zoomed across the valley.
The sheer joy on their faces said it all. "I’ve never felt so free!" his wife shouted over the roar of the snowmobile. Salil, not usually the adventurous type, found himself loving every second of it.
And talking about adventures, how can one forget about Skiing, right?
Well, neither of them had skied before, and let’s just say, there were a few tumbles. But the laughter that followed each fall was worth every bruise.
"You’ve got this!" Salil’s wife encouraged him as he struggled to find his balance. The charm of Solang Valley wasn’t just in its beauty but in the moments of joy and laughter they shared, trying something new together.
Where Nature Meets Spirituality
Kullu was surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush greenery. The couple spent the day rafting in the icy waters of the Beas River, an experience that was as thrilling as it was cold. “I think my toes are frozen!” his wife joked, though the smiles on their faces said they’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
From Kullu, they made their way to Manikaran, a beautiful town situated in Parvati Valley, known for its hot springs and the Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara. After days in the cold, the hot springs were a welcome change.
The contrast between the freezing air and the warm water was surreal. "It’s like sitting in nature’s own spa," Salil’s wife said, soaking in the warmth. The spiritual aura of the Gurudwara left them both feeling calm and peaceful—a perfect moment to reflect on their journey so far.
A Quiet Escape
Their final stop was the laid-back town of Kasol. Compared to the bustling streets of Manali, Kasol was a quiet retreat. Salil and his wife took this time to wander through the snow-dusted streets, sipping chai at local cafes and soaking in the beauty around them.
The Parvati River, glistening under the winter sun, became their favourite spot. They sat by the riverbank, watching the water flow and chatting about their adventure so far.
For Salil, Kasol offered a sense of tranquillity he hadn’t realised he needed. "It’s the kind of place where you can just be," he reflected. No rush, no plans—just nature, peace, and time to unwind.
Wrapping Up with Memories
As they prepared to head back, the couple couldn’t stop reminiscing about their trip. The snow, of course, had stolen the show, but it was the blend of adventure, culture, and spirituality that made the journey memorable.
Whether it was the peaceful moments in the temples, the thrill of skiing and snowmobiling, or the calm they found in Kasol, each experience added a unique layer to their trip.
Looking through their photos on the bus ride home, Salil turned to his wife, smiling. "I think this is the best trip we’ve ever taken," he said. She nodded in agreement, already scrolling through Thrillophilia’s website for their next adventure.
