Saksham’s Cinematic European Honeymoon Trip Review with Thrillophilia
It all began like a quintessential Bollywood movie: a young couple, eager and starry-eyed, setting off for a European adventure.
My wife and I had always dreamt of a honeymoon that felt straight out of a cinematic masterpiece, and thanks to Thrillophilia, our script came to life effortlessly. With their help, we embarked on a journey that blended romance, adventure, and a whole lot of unforgettable moments.
When we were planning this trip, I’ll be honest—we were kind of all over the place. There were so many things we wanted to see, but let's just say that our planning was less like a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production (quite grand and perfect) and more like a chaotic Bollywood shoot.
Yet, somehow, it all came together, with Thrillophilia. They organised everything beautifully, ensuring that even when we missed a shot (or a landmark), the experience was never less than perfect.
The Eternal City Meets Eternal Love
Our story kicked off in Rome, where the grandeur of the city hit us the moment we arrived. Rome’s charm is undeniable, with its ancient ruins, grand cathedrals, and narrow, cobblestone streets that made us feel like we had stepped onto the set of a historical epic.
But let me tell you—it's the food in Rome that truly won us over. Forget the movie popcorn; we were indulging in the real stars of Italian cuisine. Fresh pasta, rich sauces, and pizzas and whatnot. One evening, we even found a cosy little trattoria off Via Cavour, where we dined on classic cacio e pepe and creamy tiramisu that melted in our mouths.
It was love at first bite.
What surprised us most about Rome wasn’t just its beauty, but the people. Everyone seemed to have this effortless charm like we had just wandered into a scene where the locals were perfectly placed to guide us with a smile and a wave. It wasn’t just the famous sites that made us fall in love with Rome, it was also the everyday encounters that made the experience truly cinematic.
Magic on Water (with a Dash of Drama)
Venice was pure magic.
Stepping into this city felt like we were Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp from the movie: The Tourist. The canals, the gondolas, the iconic architecture—it was everything we had imagined and more.
One moment that really felt cinematic was our boat ride along the Grand Canal. As we floated under the Rialto Bridge with the Venetian skyline as our backdrop, it was as if the city itself was pulling us into its spell.
And of course, we couldn’t leave without paying homage to Piazza San Marco. As we stood in front of St. Mark’s Basilica, it felt like we were reliving the dreamy sequences from a film, with the soft glow of the evening sun casting a magical light over the city.
What made Venice so special was its ability to feel both cinematic and real at the same time. We roamed around the quiet alleyways, lost but happy, stopping for espresso and cicchetti at charming little cafes.
Where Dreams and Chocolates Meet
The next chapter of our adventure led us to Switzerland. The snow-capped mountains, serene lakes, and green meadows made us feel like we were inside a picture-perfect postcard.
One of the highlights of our trip was our journey to Grindelwald. The breathtaking cable car ride gave us panoramic views of the Alps, and once we reached the top, it was like being in the middle of a magical winter wonderland.
It’s hard to put into words how stunning Switzerland is—it’s like nature itself was trying to outdo every scenic shot we had ever seen in a film.
And then, of course, there were the chocolates. Swiss chocolate is not just a treat; it’s an experience.
We visited small local chocolatiers where the smell of cocoa greeted us like a warm hug, and sampled everything from dark, velvety truffles to creamy pralines that melted the moment they touched our lips.
Every bite was rich, smooth, and indulgent, making Switzerland the sweetest chapter of our journey.
We picked up loads of Swiss chocolates for our family—though, admittedly, half of them mysteriously disappeared before we even made it home (not that we’re to blame, of course!).
The Grand Finale!
Our European adventure wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Paris, the City of Love and the perfect finale to our trip. Standing beneath the Eiffel Tower at night, with the city lights twinkling around us, we couldn’t help but feel like we had saved the best for last. Paris was everything we had imagined and more, offering the romance, beauty, and culture we had always dreamed of.
Walking hand-in-hand along the river Seine, we stopped at charming little cafes and strolled through Montmartre, soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying the quiet moments that felt personal.
Paris wasn’t just the end of our trip—it was the beginning of countless memories we’ll cherish forever.
The Perfect Script
As we look back on our honeymoon, it feels like we have experienced a movie of our own. From the timeless beauty of Rome and Venice’s canals to Switzerland’s landscapes and Paris’s romantic charm, each destination added a new scene to our adventure.
We didn’t get to see everything we had planned—and maybe that’s okay. Sometimes the best stories aren’t the ones where you check off every landmark, but the ones where you get swept up in the moments you didn’t expect.
A big shout-out to Thrillophilia for being our behind-the-scenes’ crew, making sure every part of our journey was smooth. From our hotels to the transfers and even answering late-night queries (special shout-out to Jatin!), they made sure that our honeymoon was as magical as we had dreamt it to be.
As I look back on our European adventure, it feels less like a trip and more like a movie we’ll keep replaying in our minds—only this time, we were the STARS!
