When they were planning this trip, to be honest, they were kind of all over the place. But they were sure of one destination, their dream place, the one they talked about for hours and hours, Switzerland, the Land of Romance…and of course chocolates!

Describing Switzerland’s beauty is no easy task, it’s as if nature itself was trying to outdo every scenic shot ever seen in a film.
They started their journey in Zurich, a city that seemed to have everything—a picturesque old town, upscale shops, and charming lakeside views. They kicked off their Swiss adventure with a stroll through the Bahnhofstrasse, where even window shopping felt like a high-end cinematic experience.
They boarded a train to Lucerne, where the city’s mediaeval charm swept them off their feet. Walking across the Chapel Bridge was like being cast in a historical drama, minus the costumes.
Their boat ride on Lake Lucerne was so peaceful and romantic, with the sun casting golden hues over the water.
The famous Grindelwald, where the dramatic peaks and sweeping vistas felt like they were designed by Hollywood’s finest. Not just this, taking the cable car up to Jungfraujoch, the "Top of Europe," was an adventure in itself.
As they ascended, the world below seemed to dissolve into a snow globe of pure wonder. Saksham’s wife turned to him and said, "I feel like we’re in an epic fantasy, where’s the dragon?"
One of the most thrilling moments was their visit to the Matterhorn. They hiked through lush valleys and stumbled upon hidden waterfalls, all the while feeling like they were on a quest for a legendary treasure.
The Matterhorn's dramatic silhouette against the sky was nothing short of cinematic, and they found themselves frequently pausing to capture the perfect shot, mostly to prove they weren’t dreaming!

What made Switzerland truly special wasn’t just the scenery, it was the people they met along the way. Despite their reputation for being reserved, the Swiss surprised them with their warmth and kindness. They had countless heartwarming conversations, from the friendly staff at their hotels to the shopkeepers.
One memorable encounter was at a cosy café in Zurich, where they ended up having a conversation with an elderly couple. The couple shared stories of their travels and gave insider tips on exploring the city. Moments like these made Switzerland feel less like a destination and more like a home away from home.
Sweet Escapes and Culinary Delights
No trip to Switzerland would be complete without indulging in its world-renowned chocolate. They made it their mission to sample as much as they could, visiting chocolatiers and savouring each bite like it was their last.
Every piece was a masterpiece, smooth, rich, and bursting with flavour. They even brought back a stash, though half of it mysteriously disappeared before they got home (not that they were to blame, of course!).
But it’s not just about chocolates. The local cuisine, from hearty cheese fondue to crispy rösti, was a comforting embrace after a day of exploring.
They couldn’t decide whether it was the food or the view that made each meal so special. But the way they complemented each other made every dining experience incredibly satisfying and oh-so delicious.
Other Highlights of Their European Adventure
While Switzerland was the highlight of their trip, the other places were no less spectacular.
In Rome, they indulged in the finest Italian cuisine, with fresh pasta and rich sauces making every meal unforgettable. Dining on classic cacio e pepe and creamy tiramisu at a cosy trattoria off Via Cavour was a culinary love affair.
On the other hand, Venice cast a spell on them with its enchanting canals and gondola rides. Floating under the Rialto Bridge and soaking in the evening glow at Piazza San Marco felt like living in a romantic film. Venice’s charm was both cinematic and real, capturing their hearts completely.
Florence dazzled them with its Renaissance masterpieces. The awe-inspiring art at the Uffizi Gallery and the majestic Duomo transported them into a timeless era of creativity and grandeur.
And oh! Paris, the City of Love, was the perfect finale. Under the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower, strolling along the Seine, and exploring Montmartre wrapped up their journey in the most romantic way possible.
