Transforming Visions, and Perceptions- A Duo on the Meghalaya Trip!
Two girls were travelling to Meghalaya from Bangalore. For both of them, it was their first time to the destination.
Before this, they had never opted for an all-girls trip, and it had been an unforgettable experience. They were a bit sceptical about how the place would be and how the journey would play out. But they discovered that they knew very little about India and its diverse cultures, which is why this underlying fear existed regarding the trip.
Upon meeting their driver at the airport, this fear subsided, filling them with more confidence and thrill. He was their guide as well and seemed like a decent person with a wide base of knowledge about the place.
Since they had enough time, they could visit Barapani that very day before checking into their hotel. That was the first stop of the journey, and they felt quite hopeful about the rest of the trip after witnessing the spectacular natural beauty of the place.
Meghalaya was indeed a mesmerising place, with greenery and mountains all around. It was a treat to their eyes and souls, breathing the fresh air and driving farther away from the pollution and the honking of the cars, like that in Bangalore.
They were at peace.

Then started our adventure of a lifetime
The next day, they were to visit some waterfalls and caves on the way from Shillong to Cherrapunjee. They saw the Elephant Falls, the amazing three-tiered Wei Sawding Falls, the Seven Sisters Falls, and lastly the Nohkalikai Falls.
All these waterfalls demanded short or long hikes before revealing themselves, and each of them was well-protected by thick covers of forests. This gave them a more relaxed and spaced-out feeling during the trip.

Then came the Mawsmai and Arwah caves, the mysterious ancient caves that held years of secrets and stories. They were famous for being rich in fossils, some of which were displayed right there. Visitors could see the fossil pieces through the lit-up interiors, creating a very interesting experience.
Their guide was very helpful, accompanying them to all the places and telling them about the history and the cultural tales related to each site. He also ensured that they reached every tourist point safely. Whenever he encountered any issues on the road, he would take a detour and drop them on time at the desired places.
Next up, they went to the much-awaited Nongriat Trek, the double-decker living root bridge. It was a long trek, but absolutely worth it. The visual of the double bridge made with living roots sent chills down their spines.

They realised that people need to learn from such places and people that happiness does not always come from money. This trip was proving to be a life lesson for both of them; they had never explored such a part of the world before. Yes, they were young, but they understood that they were also unknown to many things, which was why such pangs of fear invaded their minds before the trip. The simple fear of the unknown.

Experiences that count
The following day, they went to Dawki Village. On the way, they took a stop in Mawlynnong Village, Asia’s cleanest village. After seeing it, they felt, “This can compete with the Korean aesthetics that people all around the world talk about so much!”
It was not just clean; it looked neat and well-planned. Perhaps it was not planned, but the locals had maintained the village so carefully that the impression it left was unparalleled.

Finally, they reached Dawki and were excited to see the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Unfortunately, since they were travelling in August during heavy rains, the water was not as calm and clear as expected.
The rain had made the water a bit muddy, but they still took the boat ride just for the experience, and they enjoyed the serenity of the place.
On the last day of the trip, they woke up to a beautiful sunrise in the East Khasi Hills. Later, they were to head to one of the most famous waterfalls in India, the Krang Suri Waterfalls. After enjoying some delicious Pumaloi and Pukhlein, they set out through the magical landscapes of Meghalaya for the final round.

The Krang Suri Waterfalls were truly wonderful, a picturesque sight. The waterfall seemed to have enchanted the entire place, and everything around it appeared happy and elated. They also felt the vibe of the place and got thrilled to take a bath in the small pool the waterfall had formed.
To wrap up, they visited the Litlum Caves, where Rock On 2 was filmed. They sat in silence. After so many days of relentless fun and activities, they seemed to have found their inner selves.
They sat still, without talking, watching the clouds change shapes as the wind moved across the green mountains. All of a sudden, their driver came up and asked when they wanted to leave, as the sun was setting and darkness would soon fall.

Honestly, they did not want to go.
The Credits
On their way back, they visited the Kamakhya Temple in the morning to pay homage and then boarded their flight.
Upon reaching home, they received a call from Thrillophilia for feedback and review.

The company had done a mind-blowing job; they never faced any issues regarding management, communications, traders, food, accommodation, or anything else. Their GEO was always in contact with them via WhatsApp and calls, asking for daily updates and experiences. Overall, it was a very well-planned itinerary, and they loved it.
They thanked Thrillophilia for keeping them safe and offering such a great tour. The people they met had changed their perception of Meghalaya completely. They hoped never to cease having such adventures where they could grow and learn together.
