Laying the Foundation Stones of a Family- Mohit’s Precious Dubai Trip with Thrillophilia
It was Mohit and his wife’s very first International trip with their 2-year-old kid. They had a nice long vacation in the month of January and Mohit and his wife decided to utilise this time to the fullest. The process of choosing the destination was tiring, and ultimately they finalised a trip to Dubai.
It was the perfect time to visit the place. They were searching for a convenient and reasonably-priced tour operator when Thrillophilia’s post popped up on their feed.
They were ecstatic, having booked the trip from them and shopped for hours for the right dresses to wear in the ‘land of luxury’. After all the tickets were booked and the stays fixed, they went through the itinerary curated and found that a desert safari with a camp stay was included in the list.
It pumped up their spirits all the more, as their kid would be exploring a proper desert for the first time in her life…that too in Dubai! What a story to tell to her friends when she is older!
Landing in Dubai
The first day started with a bang. Stop 1 was the famous Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. They had prime access to the 124th and 125th floors of the building which were mainly the observatories. They went there around 5 pm to watch the sunset over the stunning cityscapes of Dubai.
The family witnessed the magic-like phenomena of the sun setting, painting the skies in hues of red and orange. And then the colour started to shift to blue, inviting the rows of lights to spark up the scenario- the landscape of Dubai at night was simply magnificent. The view was so mesmerising that they lost track of time.
Then their driver contacted them and asked them if they wished to go for the Dubai Aquarium visit or have dinner in Burj Khalifa itself. So, they decided to grab a snack on the go and headed to Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo.
This was perhaps one of the best experiences in Dubai. The underwater Zoo had so many different species and kinds of marine life forms that both Mohit and his wife were awe-struck. As for their kid, she was happy and energetic, following the dolphins and jellyfish wherever they went. She even took a sprint on the Zoo corridor when she saw a huge shark swimming in the water.
She was small and unable to pronounce the word ‘Shark’, so she kept on shouting “Shak! Shak!” pointing to that particular window and urging her parents to come and witness her discovery!
Desert Delight
The next day they had a half-day city tour, completing which they were to head for the desert safari and camp stay. The tour was good, with the driver taking them around the city and dropping them right in front of the attraction places. Their guide was super friendly and hospitable, educating them about the history and idea of Dubai as a whole throughout the trip.
They also came across a marketplace where the stores of jewellery showcased some of the most spectacular pieces of Gold and Silver works. Mohit’s wife had entered the store and found out that the cost of gold there was cheaper than in India.
After that, they headed straight to the desert camp, their most awaited part of the journey. They cast their glance upon the endless desert (even the winter sun was strong enough to make one squint), and finally heaved a sigh of relief. It looked very peaceful and thrilling at the same time. They could see ATV bikes lined in a row, just like the camels riding beside them.
First, they tried the ATV ride, and then they moved on to the safari after clicking almost a hundred pictures of the landscapes and of themselves. The safari went so well, roaming a nearby oasis and marvelling at the sunset…however, this sunset was starkly different from the one they had seen the last day.
The ambience, the setting, the views, everything stood just opposite to their previous experience.
The BBQ dinner and the accompanying Tanoura performance with live music warmed up their souls. They had never imagined having such a beautiful cultural experience in Dubai. But now that they had it, they could not stop talking about it.
It was a full-moon night and the desert looked silver in its glow. Witnessing such a sight, they were stunned. Both of them sat on the sand for a while, admiring the night sky and the desert…their kid was asleep already so they had this moment to themselves.
Here’s to good endings
In the following days, they toured the Miracle Garden which sent their daughter to the ninth cloud! She just could not stop jumping and running around the whole park, excited to see all the colourful flowers and sky-high sculptures. Their trip to the Global Village was a massive success as well. It was an enriching experience for their daughter, having learnt about so many new things!
The final stop on their itinerary was the Dubai Marina, where they had booked a dhow cruise with dinner. Gliding across the charming marina while soaking in the marvellous sights of the buildings around and of the Dubai Eye, they spent a lovely evening together. It was not just quality time with family, it was an extraordinary time with family. They knew they were making memories to last a lifetime.
The dinner was a range of authentic Arabian dishes. Their best bet was falafel with creamy hummus, while the kid loved the deserts of Basbousa and Kunafa.
Their last day of the trip was at leisure. They could do anything they wanted, and so they decided to have a beach experience. They tried snorkelling and boating on the Jumeirah beach and had lots of fun making sand castles together.
It was indeed a precious trip for them, the one that laid the foundation stone of their family.
So, after coming back from the trip, they reached out to the contact person of Thrillophilia and wrote a nice little review of their trip.
Glad, Thrillophilia wished them all the best and kept the door open for them to come back again!
