Fort Sunsets & Lake Evenings: Kalaiselvan & His Wife’s Rajasthan Experience with Thrillophilia

When Kalaiselvan and his wife finally booked a long trip, it wasn’t for a special occasion or anniversary. “We just wanted to stop for a while,” he said with a laugh. “Life had been moving too fast, and we both needed a breather.”

Rajasthan had always been on their list – they’d spoken about its forts, deserts, and old-world charm many times, but never made it happen. Then one evening, while scrolling online, they stumbled upon Thrillophilia’s 9-day Rajasthan tour package. It promised to bring together culture, comfort, and time to simply wander, within one package. “It felt like the break we’d been waiting for,” he said.

A week later, their suitcases were zipped, playlists were ready, and they were finally on their way – chasing sunsets, stories, and that long-forgotten feeling of slowing down.

Jaipur: A Warm Welcome in the Pink City

The moment they landed in Jaipur, the city felt alive. The pink walls, the calls of street vendors, the smell of fresh kachoris – everything felt warm and welcoming.

Their first stop was Amber Fort, where they took their time walking through sunlit courtyards and narrow alleys that echoed with old tales. His wife couldn’t stop taking pictures of the carvings and arches, while Kalaiselvan was more interested in the everyday moments - school kids on tours, guides cracking jokes, and locals going about their day beneath ancient walls.

Evenings were slow and sweet.

They wandered through Johari Bazaar, picked up bangles and tiny trinkets, and shared kulhad chai at a roadside stall. “Jaipur was where the noise in our heads finally quieted,” he said later. “It reminded us why we loved travelling together.”

The Calm of Jodhpur and the Charm of the Desert

Their next stop was Jodhpur, known for its endless blue houses and mighty Mehrangarh Fort. From the top, they could see the entire city painted in shades of blue. But what they remember most fondly is Jaswant Thada, a peaceful marble cenotaph overlooking a small lake.

“We didn’t rush there,” Kalaiselvan said. “It was one of those places that makes you quiet, in a good way.”

From Jodhpur, they drove to Jaisalmer, where the mood changed completely. The city’s golden walls and desert dunes offered an entirely new world to explore. They went on a camel safari in the Sam Sand Dunes, watched the sunset, and stayed overnight at a desert camp with folk music, dance, and Rajasthani food. “That evening was something else,” his wife added. “Just the two of us under a sky full of stars, no noise, no rush.”

Lakes, Palaces, and Reflections in Udaipur

After the deserts and forts of Rajasthan, Udaipur felt like a breath of fresh air. The calm lakes, white palaces, and soft pace of the city instantly won them over. Their first stop was the City Palace, where they spent hours exploring courtyards and balconies overlooking Lake Pichola. His wife loved the palace interiors, while Kalaiselvan enjoyed watching the lake shimmer in the afternoon light.

Later, they visited Saheliyon-ki-Bari, a peaceful garden with fountains and marble arches that felt worlds away from the city noise. But the best moment came at sunset with a quiet boat ride on Lake Pichola, where the reflection of the Lake Palace danced on the water. “It felt unreal,” he said, smiling.

Pushkar: A Peaceful Goodbye

The final stop was Pushkar, a town that felt like the calm after a long, colourful journey. They started their morning at the Brahma Temple, one of the few of its kind in the world, and later sat by the ghats watching the evening aarti – bells ringing, lamps floating on water, and a quiet stillness settling in.

They wandered through narrow lanes lined with cafés, silver jewellery shops, and handmade trinkets. “Pushkar felt like a gentle pause,” he said. “It was where we realised how much this trip had done for us.”

The Thrillophilia Experience

By the end of the nine days, the couple had seen forts, deserts, palaces, and lakes. But it was the in-between moments that stayed with them: early morning drives through sleepy towns, chai breaks by the roadside, and the comfort of knowing everything was taken care of.

“The entire trip ran so smoothly,” Kalaiselvan shared. “From the hotel check-ins to transfers, everything just worked without us worrying about what’s next.” He added that their driver, Sanjay Sharma, made a real difference as he was punctual, polite, and full of local insights. “I’d easily give him 5 out of 5,” he said.

What started as an unplanned getaway turned into a journey filled with stories they’ll remember for years. “This wasn’t just sightseeing,” Kalaiselvan smiled. “It was personal – simple, warm, and perfectly timed. And that’s what made it special.”
