Beyond Expectations: Harish’s Family Trip to Vietnam with Thrillophilia
When Harish, his wife, and their young son embarked on their journey to Vietnam, they were seeking more than just a typical vacation—they were after a perfect mix of adventure, cultural richness, and family bonding.
And, what they experienced was a journey that surpassed their expectations in every way. From the bustling streets of Hanoi to the serene waters of Halong Bay, each moment in Vietnam was crafted into an unforgettable experience.
With the expert help of Thrillophilia, their trip was customised according to their needs, blending comfort with exploration and offering them a deep dive into the heart of Vietnam's natural and cultural wonders.
A Warm Welcome
Their journey began in Hanoi, where the family was welcomed with the kind of hospitality that set the tone for their entire trip. From the moment they landed, Harish was pleasantly surprised by the ease with which the Thrillophilia team managed everything.
One of the most pressing concerns for Harish was the availability of vegetarian food. As a strict vegetarian, he was unsure if Vietnam’s renowned culinary scene, often focused on seafood and meat, would cater to his needs.
However, Thrillophilia’s careful planning ensured that his dietary preferences were well accommodated. Harish was delighted to discover a range of delicious vegetarian dishes, from fresh local vegetables cooked with traditional Vietnamese spices to customised meals at every stop.
In Harish’s words, “Being a pure vegetarian I was a little sceptical about the food but your team had managed everything very well.”
The thoughtful arrangements ensured that Harish and his family could enjoy authentic Vietnamese flavours without compromising on their dietary needs.
A Cruise Through Paradise
One of the most memorable highlights of the trip was their time on the stunning Halong Bay. Boarding a luxurious cruise ship, the family embarked on a journey through the emerald waters and towering limestone islands that define this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Their experience was nothing short of magical.
“The rooms provided were absolutely top-notch, and the cruise room was especially amazing,” Harish remarked, clearly impressed by the comfort and elegance of their stay.
The cruise allowed them to explore Halong Bay’s natural wonders, from kayaking and swimming to participating in a traditional Vietnamese cooking class.
During their visit to Ti Top Island, Harish’s son had a blast exploring the beach and taking in the stunning views. The family also visited a pearl farm village, where they learned about pearl cultivation and tried their hand at kayaking.
In the evening, the onboard cooking class provided them with a fun and interactive way to connect with Vietnamese culture, as they prepared traditional dishes together.
But perhaps their most captivating moments were spent on the deck, watching the sunset over the bay’s tranquil waters.
From the serene waters of Halong Bay, the family travelled to the majestic Ba Na Hills. Here, they encountered one of Vietnam’s most iconic landmarks: the Golden Bridge. With its surreal design featuring giant stone hands seemingly holding up the bridge, it was a sight that left them in awe.
My mind was boggled after witnessing such majestic architecture. It was truly something. For a moment there, I thought I was watching a fantasy movie. The giant hand that was holding the bridge reminded me a lot of the ‘Titan of Braavos Statue’ from Game of Thrones.
Just iconic.
A Dive into Culture and Nature
The family’s adventure continued with a trip to Cham Island, where they enjoyed snorkelling and exploring the island’s natural beauty. The clear waters and vibrant marine life provided a perfect backdrop for a day of family fun and relaxation.
After their island adventure, they headed to Hoi An, a town renowned for its preserved ancient architecture and rich cultural heritage. Wandering through Hoi An’s lantern-lit streets, visiting historic sites like the Japanese Covered Bridge, and experiencing the local market, offered a glimpse into Vietnam’s past and present.
“Hoi An was like stepping back in time,” Harish reflected. The blend of history, culture, and local charm made it a highlight of their trip, providing both educational and enjoyable experiences for their young son.
A Heartfelt Farewell
As their trip drew to a close, Harish and his family left Vietnam with a sense of gratitude and fulfilment. The experiences they had—whether it was the breathtaking views of Halong Bay, the awe-inspiring Golden Bridge, or the cultural richness of Hoi An—left a lasting impression.
What truly set their trip apart, according to Harish, was the exceptional service and hospitality they received throughout their journey. “The on-ground staff/team support I felt was the best in Vietnam,” Harish praised.
The warmth and friendliness of the local guides and hotel staff made the family feel at home, enhancing their overall experience and leaving them with fond memories of their interactions.
“I'm not sure about others, but I’m definitely going to recommend Thrillophilia to my friends and family,” Harish concluded. The journey had not only been a delightful escape but also a reminder of the beauty and diversity that Vietnam offers.
Their family vacation in Vietnam turned out to be more than just a trip. It was a collection of cherished moments and experiences that they will remember for years to come. Vietnam truly captured their hearts, offering them a journey filled with discovery, enjoyment, and unforgettable memories.
