Sun, Sand, and Love: Divya’s Picture-Perfect Anniversary Trip in Seychelles with Thrillophilia
Oh, to be crazy in love!
That’s exactly what I thought as I watched my husband climb a palm tree on the beach like a kid with a wide smile, and all I could think was, “This is love.” As much as I wanted to scold him, I couldn’t stop laughing – and just like that, I fell in love with him all over!
That moment summed up our second-anniversary trip to Seychelles: wild, carefree, and filled with the kind of love that makes you feel young again.
My husband had promised to take me to Seychelles when we first met – way back when it was still one of those hidden gems. COVID got in the way on our honeymoon and first anniversary, but this time he finally got a chance to fulfil his promise.
He went full secret agent mode and booked the entire trip with the help of Thrillophilia without telling me! Can you imagine? He only spilled the beans a week before we left, and I was torn between being mad at him for not giving me enough time to buy new clothes, and absolutely loving the surprise.
Beaches and Endless Sunsets
If there’s one thing you must know about Seychelles: Its beaches are what dreams are made of. Think white powdery sand, crystal-clear water that sparkles like diamonds, and sunsets so breathtaking you feel like you’ve stepped into a painting.
I still remember the first time we stepped onto Anse Lazio Beach in Praslin – it was like a scene straight out of a postcard. As soon as we arrived, I kicked off my sandals and ran toward the water like a child at recess.
We spent hours swimming, soaking up the sun, and taking about a hundred pictures because, well, how could you not?
But it wasn’t all about lounging on the beach (even though I could’ve done that forever). We also explored the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve, which is like stepping into a prehistoric jungle. As we walked through the forest, surrounded by palms and exotic plants, I couldn’t help but make Jurassic Park references.
We even spotted the famous coco de mer, those giant, oddly-shaped coconuts that are basically the celebrities of the plant world.
Island Hopping
On our anniversary, we decided to do something extra special – we stayed on Round Island, a private island with just 10 infinity pool villas. The villa was beyond magical – an open shower with a view of the ocean, a bathtub that looked out into the horizon, and absolute privacy.
It was our own little bubble of bliss, with nothing but the sound of the waves and the occasional bird song.
The next day, we hopped over to Curieuse Island, where we met the real stars of the show – the giant tortoises. These slow-moving, ancient creatures were just as curious about us as we were about them. We spent hours feeding them and petting them.
Later, we biked around La Digue, an island that feels like it’s frozen in time. No cars, just bicycles and ox carts.
It’s the kind of place where you can lose track of time, wandering between beaches, exploring cute cafes, and getting lost in the island's charm (To be honest, as much as I enjoyed riding a bicycle, I was definitely not fit for it.)
We stopped at Anse Source d'Argent (more like forced to as I was tired), another out of the world kinda beautiful beach, and spent the afternoon lounging on the pinkish sand, surrounded by those granite boulders.
I swear, everywhere we looked was Instagram-worthy!
Celebrations, Food, and Little Things
Seychelles isn’t just about beaches and adventure – the food deserves a standing ovation too. We’re vegetarians, and I was a bit worried about finding good options, but our hotel – La Domaine La Reserve in Praslin – had us covered.
From tropical fruits to fresh veggie curries and creole dishes, everything was a burst of flavor. The chefs were so good, that they even made us some off-menu vegetarian delights. And oh, the desserts – let’s just say, I may have had a slice of cake (or two) every night.
On our actual anniversary at Round Island, we had a candlelit dinner by the beach, complete with twinkling fairy lights and the soft sound of the waves in the background. It was the kind of romantic evening that makes you feel like you’re living in a rom-com.
My husband surprised me with a toast (he usually leaves the speech-making to me), and I melted – though it could’ve been the humidity.
On the last day of our trip, we explored Mahe – the largest island in Seychelles. We wandered through the colourful markets, hiked to hidden waterfalls, and chased more sunsets.
Everywhere we went, the locals greeted us with warm smiles and their infectious laughter. I even picked up some souvenirs – a straw hat and a beautiful hand-carved tortoise that now sits on my desk as a little reminder of our adventure.
Saying Goodbye (For Now)
As the trip came to an end, we found ourselves reluctant to leave. Seychelles had given us everything we’d hoped for – and more. And a huge thanks to Thrillophilia for organising everything so perfectly, it was inexplicably mind-blowing!
With their well-planned itinerary and attention to detail, all we had to do was relax and soak in the magic of Seychelles. My husband even mentioned that Thrillophilia recommended Round Island for our anniversary day, and it was the best decision ever.
From the serene beaches to the wild adventures, every moment felt like a celebration of love, laughter, and life itself. Seychelles had captured our hearts, and I’m pretty sure it’s holding onto them for good.
And I couldn’t help but think – we’ll be back.
