To Fascination, Wonder, and Excitement: Ashish’s Honeymoon Trip with Thrillophilia

A trip to Switzerland for my honeymoon. Sounds awesome doesn't it?

You got it.

Our honeymoon trip was AWESOME!

After a long time of procrastinating about what would be the best place to go, we decided to stick with the dreamy cliche- Europe.

And who could arrange it better than Thrillophilia?

Since I had taken a few trips in the past with this company, I had full faith in their team to curate a spectacular honeymoon trip for their repeat customer.

So, this year, after a few days of our marriage, we finally boarded the flight to Italy. We had opted for an 11-day Europe tour with the main focus on Switzerland. After all, if visiting Europe, why explore just one place when you can explore many all at once?

The Side-kicks
Me and my wife we both are ardent museum and art enthusiasts, so touring the Vatican City seemed like a dream come true for us. We saw the Statue of David, the artworks of the Vatican Museum ranging from Michelangelo to Da Vinci and Raphael, and also the stunning architecture of the monuments.

We have to give a big round of applause to Europe for doing a great job in preserving its historical and cultural masterpieces. All the sculptures and artefacts were so well-maintained that they seemed to bring the past back to life (only in essence though).

Anyway, coming back to the trip, tours of ancient Rome, Venice, Murano and Burano have been quite thrilling, filled with boat rides and amazing Italian delicacies.

The Torcello boat ride was a show-stealer, taking us around the canals of Venice and its markets, cafes, shops, and neighbourhoods. Our guide was also quite adept with all the places, telling us tales of the past and the folklore of each main attraction and place we visited. He also knew the shortcuts around the place, which helped us buy some more time for ourselves!

Then came Milan into our lives, and with it, the sight of the grand Duomo Di Milano- the Milan Cathedral. It was a spectacular experience, witnessing the timeless beauty and the intricate carvings of the building. It was the largest church in all of Italy, our guide had informed us. The great arches and symbolic motifs of Christianity offered an enriching view.

Now, for the sake of doing justice to the subheading, I am skipping the Switzerland tour and coming to Paris directly. No, don't worry, I will definitely talk about Switzerland, but let me just narrate my story…

We had to take a connecting train to Paris from Basel with our Swiss Pass (will come to it later). It was a very fulfilling train ride, where we were blessed with the scenery of the countryside of France.

Paris, the City of Lights, was so lively and colourful that we almost wanted to shift here from India. Everyone was warm and welcoming, happily spending their lives cycling around the city, dancing, singing, and making art - lots of it.

We came across so many painters and singers while strolling the city, and talking to them revealed a whole new story. Some were students, some were part-time homemakers, and for some, it was their livelihood. The bars and cafes were also very peaceful and cosy. And lastly, the legendary Eiffel Tower did not fail to make our jaws drop.

It looked beautiful in the evening, with all the lights sparkling and glistening along with the entire city!

On the last day of the trip, we went to Disneyland. It was a whole episode of having fun and frolicking around the place. We had given in to our inner children for that amount of time, and we do NOT regret that.

And finally,

The Hero
Switzerland.

It was after touring Milan that we were to take a train to Spiez to activate our Swiss Pass and head to Interlaken. This Swiss Pass was the key to all transport systems in Switzerland, and since we avoided taking private cars, this was an important piece of the puzzle on the trip.

Also, if you are wondering why we did not opt for car rides and took trains instead, it was because we wanted to travel around this destination, not just visit.

Anyhow, our first stop was Interlaken, the gateway to the Land of Milk and Honey. It was the entrance point to the Swiss Alps and the lake of the region, all of which we visited. It was a dreamy journey, everything was so beautiful and picture-perfect that the place seemed to be outside the worldly realm of earth. Nature was in its best form there, and the houses were made in such a way that they blended with the environment.

We were on a train ride to Mount Jungfraujoch, also known as the top of Europe. It is famous for being the highest accessible point in Europe via train lines, and to be honest, the snow covered views of the Alps left us spellbound.

Next up, we went on an unparalleled tour to Lucerne, its old world charm seemed to seep through our veins…it was that impactful. We saw the Town Hall, the iconic Chapel Bridge and Water Tower, and took a boat ride on the very famous Lake Lucerne.

Our Switzerland adventure was one-of-a-kind. We got the perfect weather to explore the region, we met some amazing folks and tried varieties of cheese.

It was the day after that we left for Basel via train. It was the connecting stop that would take us to Paris.

Yes, now you get a clear picture of how our trip went.

Overall, we had the most memorable trip of both of our lives. We fell very much in love with each other, yet again in a more romantic way - in the shrill winds of the Alps. every conversation by the fireplace and every bite of ice cream.

And lastly, thanks to Thrillophilia for making this possible for both of us. We would not have such a trip if not for their help and services!
